CableLabs — The 10G Challenge

Technology Competition

Overview

CableLabs, the leading innovation and research and development lab for the cable industry, asked Comprise to create a program to drive awareness around the near-future 10G network and encourage innovators to begin developing applications that will utilize its speed, reliability, low latency and security. The 10G Challenge awarded six winners across four categories — Live, Work, Learn and Play — plus Grand Prize and People’s Choice, with cash prizes and networking opportunities to help move their technologies forward.

Our Work

Comprise worked with CableLabs to develop and execute The Challenge through a comprehensive communications campaign that featured a wide range of tactics, including public relations, content development, paid and organic social media strategy, influencer relations, graphic design and website development.

In addition to partnering with several universities and organizations to promote The Challenge, Comprise and CableLabs secured Zoom, Mayo Clinic, Corning and Intel as industry expert judges. Representatives from each company helped determine the finalists in the Learn, Live, Work and Play categories, respectively. Their participation helped boost the credibility and brand awareness of The 10G Challenge and allowed them an exclusive first look at the technologies that will shape the future. Comprise designed brand assets for these experts (and other partners) to use and drafted blogs, social media posts and other content on their behalf.

Comprise ensured that the competition received broad exposure to innovators across North America by reaching out to dozens of tech-focused organizations, corporations and universities. By the end of the competition, over 30 associations, universities and other professional organizations committed to helping spread the word and encourage involvement in The Challenge.

The Results

There were six winners across five categories, plus a grand prize winner.  The winning entries represent various life-changing solutions, from AI that helps farmers with tractor fleet management to advanced VR technology with applications that assist rural patients in receiving care from the National Cancer Institute, expanding access to nursing education or introducing low-cost, easy-to-execute musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
