One of nation’s first high-tech PR firms evolves space and staffing paradigms
Metzger Associates, one of the nation’s first technology public relations and digital marketing agencies, has relocated its headquarters in central Boulder to 2503 Walnut Street and is changing the company’s name to Metzger Albee Public Relations.
“From our start in a mountain cabin west of Boulder nearly 25 years ago, to Class A commercial space in town, we’re evolving from the traditional agency ‘warehouse’ model into a tighter, more efficient ‘nerve center’ headquarters from which we can leverage co-working space and virtual offices,” said CEO and Founder John Metzger. “Starting in the ’90s, we grew a large agency by filling expensive office space with high-salaried employees with high billing requirements. We’re now focusing a crack team of full-time specialists serving clients in flexible workspace to provide better results, faster and at lower costs. We believe this is what the public relations firm of the future looks like.”
Metzger attributes much of the agency’s success over the last 10 years to Doyle Albee, whose firm Metzger Associates acquired in 2005. “Doyle started one of the PR industry’s first social media practices when he became a partner, and has since established one of the country’s most experienced digital marketing teams built upon our B2B and tech PR heritage,” Metzger said. “With our move into new offices, and re-inventing the agency model while we’re at it, the time was right not only to share ownership, but to change our name to Metzger Albee Public Relations.”
In addition to the new headquarters housing about a dozen full-time employees along with conference rooms and “hotel space,” the firm has arranged permanent co-working offices in Denver at Thrive in both Cherry Creek and Lower Downtown, and in downtown Boulder at the new Boomtown Accelerator and Co-working Space.
“We’ve survived and thrived by adapting to opportunities, and setting best-practice standards at every stage of the communications revolution,” said agency President Albee. “With this move and now with my name on the door, Metzger Albee continues to serve clients in a world where buyers, sellers and investors connect through a combination of traditional media, social networks and word-of-mouth. By combining the messaging with the math, we’re multiplying our clients’ media coverage through an integrated fusion of PR, social media, SEO, web design and creative. This is the new open agency of the future, where a highly qualified team works together to achieve collaborative resonance within markets and across the media.”
