Growing up in the middle of nowhere really helps hone one’s imagination. Go to my hometown of Gould, Colorado, and just stand there for a while. Your brain will start talking to you because no one else is. From there, it was radio — well, a bruising college football debut that ended quickly — because I had no idea what to do with myself. And boom. I was immediately loathed by Farmington, New Mexico. If you’re out there, Farmington, I’ve never given up on you. And neither have I the creative career. There’s this thing that wakes me up, sometimes at 3 a.m., where I cannot stop thinking of new ways to light up some lives. Currently, my family avoids me because they fear they’ll end up in a video, but there are three kids and one wife. And pets all over the damn place.
